Mister Freedom

Mr. Freedom

“A shade better than the usual.”

Those were the initial, and now, understated two cents I had as I came across this brilliant feature on Mr. Freedom earlier this morning. Bounced from one blog to the other, two clicks later, I was soon in over my head, engrossed, unable to detach myself from an article that would eventually occupy my time for a good part of the day.

Disseminating information, news, trends faster than you can wrap your head around, Blogs, like airplanes, have played a part in not only making the the world a lot smaller, but, sadly, a lot less amazing. With news now coming, not by the day or hour, but by the minute and second, it feels as if that novelty of finding something brand new disappears, fast as it loads on our monitors.

The double edged sword that it is, Blogs do strike upon treasures. For those willing to dig and wade through the mud, there’s articles, and images out there that are not only bookmark worthy, but downright priceless.

Timeless as the vintage clothes that he so passionately mentions, Nick Maggio’s feature of Mr. Freedom on his blog, a time to get, reads with a texture you can almost feel. Along with Designer/owner, Christophe Loiron, they’ll be taking you by the hand to show you why Mr. Freedom is one of the most watched and influential brands of today.

Kumbaya from Barcelona

I feel that it’s timely I come across this video today. With the terribly gloomy weather as of late, I figure it’s becoming difficult for most people to even quirk out a smile. Random down pours of rain, and looming overcast skies, the “Curl up and die” weather doesn’t look like it’ll be letting up anytime soon. Much as I love this kind of hot chocolate weather, I’m finding it true that too much of one thing, can somehow be “bad”.

As the gloomy weather drags on, week after week and into our weekends, I’m starting to imagine what it would feel like to be living in London, and also why 2000 of its denizens decide to off themselves every year. So, as you’re learning your hang man’s knot, or fashioning your own bespoke guillotine out of wood, I’d like to present you with the “cheer me up” you so desperately need, in the form of Swedish band, I’m from Barcelona.

Serving as your own personal ray of sunshine, they offer up the kind of music, that in its very own Disney, Musical-like way makes you want to burst randomly into song. With the type of music that makes you want to sing Kumbaya by a roaring campfire, I’m from Barcelona is sure to keep you afloat well until the puddles dry.

And oh, the rest, if not all their songs, share the same sentiment, that perfect balance of cheerio and melancholic glee. So, do check their Myspace. Cheers.
